Some of you may already have harnesses and rollbars to go with your vehicle. But for those who don't you might want to consider getting one. This gives you 80% of holding power a race harness does.

If it hadn't been for this device, as vehicle rolled I don't know if lap/seatbelt would've kept me in place but one thing's for certain CG-Lock kept my centre of gravity in place. Most importantly, this does not compromise your seat belt's safety when properly installed. I could go ad nauseum but there's more info here:

I'm blessed to be alive. Compounded with safety ratings of Subaru and harness power of CG-Lock I've only sustained minor cuts and bruises. Airbag slightly grazed my nose as it deployed-no harm done.

Damn that's a bummer.

Glad to see you walked away.

How did it end up on its lid? You don't have to answer.

Yes you do... You cant post pics like that with out a story to go along with it.

Glad you're safe though. Lots of my friends have been involved in accidents lately and all have more or less walked away.

No worries it was a group drive my first meet and cruise from davis to napa.

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f31...6.html

Anyway to my recollection, I was taking a turn on dry creek road ( Napa ), hit gravel tried to regain control but oversteered and eventually understeered. Next thing I remember was hitting embankment, spinning and eventually rolling the car. Buddy behind me said I rolled it twice. Ironically I wasn't even going fast, I was driving well within speed limit 35-40 MPH. But the looks of the car say otherwise.

CHP gave me shit too. "Between you me and that tree over there you weren't going 25 MPH" ( I told him between 25-35 since he wanted an "estimate" nvm the fact that I'm fucking bleeding and what's me to have full recollection ).

Then I get letter from my insurance saying I was at fault because of "unsafe speed"

What joke man.

I told them there was gravel in the lane I was driving on. Shouldn't that be equivalent to my hitting a deer?

I know I'm driving friend's mom's car right now but at least its something. As it stand I'm currently looking for CRX 88-91, civic hb 92-95 or integra 90-93.

Please be on look out. Thanks guys!

FWIW though it was indeed one of best meet and cruise I've been to. PRobably my only meet and cruise hahah

Does that mean you have to pay a deductible or does that me so "sorry we are not covering it."

You should consult a lawyer if the chp report said you were doing no wrong and of course if it is worth it.

I would check your local auction lots.
My girlfriend got an 04 Saab just like this one for $7k
http://www.kenporterauctions.c...=74782
It's a nice car. I think it has a engine similar to the cobals ss's turbocharged ecotec engine. Except it has lower output (about 200hp & 200tq).

Thanks Ben!

According to the CHP report and what I've seen. The officer hand drawn a diagram of the road I was on and wrote "est. 25-35"

I didn't see anything else. He kept saying I don't care what you say it looks to me you're at fault.

Some friends have said who gives shit about what CHP says. I don't know.

I used to have this lawyer but won't answer his calls now. Besides, I've no money for lawyer.

The letter I got saying it was my fault was on the 10th along with some other miscellaneous BS. I should hear from them tomorrow.

The Field adjustor took pics today and he said the cost to fix the damage would be along lines of 20k ( I estimated 15-20k ). He states when damage is 80% of what value of car is they total it.

My buddy who worked insurance said generally insurance companies say 65%.

As for auction lots a place called Subaru Recycler would pay $2500 for my car. I'm hoping the buyback would be that much or even less.

I would not attempt to repair that car. It would never be the same. That is just me. I would hope it gets totaled.
You may have some other motivating factors though.

Buying it back and turning it into a track only car I could see happening. Ohh it would make a bad ass 24 Hours of LeMons car.

Oh they're definately totalling it. He said practically everything would be replaced. The car was at my buddy house and he said I snapped the timing belt. The motor and tranny got pushed back. Only salvage might be tranny, turbo, K&N filter ( except filter-got smashed ) and interiour panels.

Why would it not work it's not one of those automatic belts?

I don't think auto seat belts and the door mounted belts work period. That is why they stopped making cars with them.

the door belts on crx's are 2 different belts, its not one belt that goes through the latch mechanism and you can pull the shoulder part to tighten.

Totaling it probably will work better for you.

Yeah I really wanted to keep it hoping it'll sell for less.

So today, I decide to physically go down to insurance and see what's going on. As it turns out, they've finished the assesment of damages and such.

They'll write out 23k to the bank minus my 1000 deductible.
Due to fact I wanted to do "owner retainer" they'll deduct 5k. I couldn't dispute the value because they go uphold whatever the system says. They take the mean of area I'm in. The greater sacramento area as well as modesto, sunnyvale or even stockton. Anyway, The Gap will cover the rest which would be 2 grand. However, I don't have 6 grand lying around.

In short it's : 23xxx-1000-5xxx = that amounts to 16,9xx
I thought I had to write a check but adjustor informed me they just deduct it from check they write out to the lien holder.

Oh and to fix the car? It'll cost 35k ( price of new STi ) hahah
More than what I surmised ( at 15-20k ) and what field rep told me ( 15 or 20k )

Funny thing too: the field rep who took pics itemized tires:
205/40/16 Falken Ziex ZE-512 :hammer:

The OEM is 225/45/17 Potenza RE-070 ( I had 760 sports )

I hope that doesn't confuse anyone.

glad to see you're ok dude! When you were upside down, how much room did you have between your head and the roof once it was all done?

Thank's bro

Probably about 3-4"

It was tough to get outta there. Luckily I was small enough to crawl outta there. I forgot my seatbelt was still there holding me. The dudes from the cruise were rushing towards me to attempt to get me out but I've already managed to free myself.

A buddy of mine who had been in a roll over said that when the roof collapsed it felt like someone punched him on the top of his head. I always thought it would happen slower. He was fortunately not injured either. I think it was in a Explorer.

You may already know this. If someone was injured (or thought to be) the best thing a non trained person could do is just make sure the car is off, not about to catch fire, and that the injured person stays awake. Attempting to remove someone could injure them further if you don't know what you are doing. There have been law suits about this.

I picked up the police report from insurance today. Turns out the adjustor was sick. I'm trying to acquire all documents for GAP even though I know there's high likelihood I won't need it since insurance appraised car at 22,8xxx and I owe 22,1xxx with a $6.02 daily interest.

With the surplus money, the administrator from insurance said my bank will just write a check to me ( I called earlier prior to heading out to insurance to ask the Loss Litigation dept of bank as well ). I kept thinking insurance would ask for pay off and because they appraised it higher than what I owed, they would underpay and it does not work like that. In short, insurance pay what it's market value is minus deductible. Not what borrower owes to lien holder.
